Stocks Open Higher After Spending Data


NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened higher on Wednesday as data showed stronger-than-expected growth in consumer spending and income in October while oil prices held below $49 a barrel. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 39.53 points, or 0.38 percent, at 10,467.55. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.15 points, or 0.27 percent, at 1,176.97. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 10.06 points, or 0.48 percent, at 2,106.87.
