Horse Insurance

Horse insurance is insurance that covers the policyholder's horse. There are different kinds of horse insurance, based upon whether the horse is a horse that is ridden for pleasure or a throughbred show horse. Needless to say, horse insurance premiums vary greatly between a racehorse that is worth millions of dollars and a child's horse whose value is purely sentimental. Horse insurance may cover the replacement value of the horse if the animal is lost due to injury or death. Another facet of horse insurance is liability, if an accident should injure a rider or someone else, or should damage the property of someone other than the policyholder. Horse insurance may also cover medical expenses for the horse, which sometimes may be prohibitive if the horse has a life-threatening illness or injury. Horse insurance may also include the horse's equipment, such as saddles, bridles, or other accoutrements used by the rider. A horse insurance policy may also cover vehicles that are used to transport horses, or the stalls where horses live.
