Event Insurance
Event insurance is insurance that can be purchased for a particular event, such as a concert, a sports event, or even a wedding. The purchase of event insurance is particularly important if tickets have been sold to the event, and if a refund would be expected by ticketholders if the event were canceled. Event insurance policies could cover anything from a singer's tonsillitis that would force the cancellation of a concert to an unexpected blizzard that would postpone a golf tournament or a power outage that would force the rescheduling of a computer show. Even if events are only postponed, there is often an added expense in finding a new venue and replacing food items or other things that would be wasted if the first event were suddenly cancelled, and event insurance policies cover all these contingencies. Some of the expenses that can be protected by event insurance include advertising costs (both the original cost and the amount it would take to advertise a rescheduling), loss of sponsorship money, or ticket sales. There are dozens to hundreds of facets that contribute to the successful production of any event. This means there are many things that can go wrong, and many opportunities where event insurance coverage may come in handy.
